Where do these loofahs come from? Originating from the beautiful wetlands of Southeast Asia, the Luffa Aegyptiaca, also known as the Orange Sea Sponge, is a fruit renowned for not only being highly fibrous but also for being a highly effective scrubbing sponge. When fully ripe, the inside of the loofah fruit develops a network of fibres that are perfect for cleaning and exfoliating purposes when dried. Our loofahs are ethically harvested, peeled, deseeded, then dried and cut into lengths to make these natural, sustainable loofahs.

FAQs:

1. What's the best way to clean a loofah?

It’s important to wash the loofah, wring it and air-dry it after use. This practice prevents bacterial growth.

Here's how:

  1. Thoroughly wash with hot soapy water then rinse well.
  2. Squeeze it to remove excess water and soapy residue.
  3. Wring the water out and then let it air dry from the string loop.
  4. Store it in a dry place

Many customers wash their loofah with their laundry in the washing machine and this is perfectly fine too.

2. How often should you replace them?

Provided you keep your loofah clean and dry between uses it will last for many months and at the end of its natural life can be composted.
